You can’t have it

Because I bought it.

After many in the cart/out of the cart moments I finally went for it.

There are some other fun pendants in the shop along with great prints!

Handmade full wall.

Sunday morning I was the last one down stairs. I could hear hubby making breakfast with the kids and I woke up with a mission. I don’t even have a before image to share, it was that embarassing, I used to have a HUGE pile of unread books on my nightstand. I’ve converted to reading ebooks on my iPad so those books have sat there untouched for over a year. So I went on a mission to clean up and beautify my corner of the room.

I sorted the books into our yard sale pile and a keep pile. Then I wrote down all the titles of the books and made a pledge that I’ll either read them over the summer or buy the ebook and get rid of the physical book. I found them a happy new home, on a bookshelf.

Then I filled the wall space up with my growing collection of handmade art. My glorious Lucky Jackson winnings. This great personalized paining by Lisah and a fun wall hanging from CoucouSalut.

I’ve still got my beautiful print by Laura Jean on the other wall but I have to get some other things framed before it will be complete. I love the way Laura distresses frames and has them all whitewashed, I’m going to frame my other pieces to match.

Friday Create Along

Ok so here’s the tutorial for last week, the little macaroons. I finished mine last night.

It’s pretty cute. It’s also pretty tiny and other than storing or giving rings/earrings I’m not sure what else I could do with it.

I also had a problem, see if you can figure it out.

Yeah, there’s no way I can get the inside pieces in. I might have to get a slightly smaller size. I’m not sure if the fabric I chose for the outside is too thick, it’s a Japanese cotton/linen blend. Or if it’s just all to bulky in there.

But the good news is no one will ever see in there since this is my little macroon and at least it looks great from the outside!

Next up is this charming little brooch. Now this is a great project because it’s hand sewing, uses felt and creates an accessory and that fits with my goal to accessorize more!

My winnings.

I got an exciting package the other day! I instagrammed (is that a word?) it right away, pardon my straight from the classroom hungry for lunch look.

You may have heard/seen that I won a wonderful embroidery hoop from Lucky Jackson. I choose this wonderful one. I’m not a roller derby gal but it’s super fun.

I honestly have to get working on turning a large part of the wall space in our living room into a handmade art gallery . . .

Thrifting is fun

But you all knew that.

Found this cute little house shelf. Happens to fit my spools of baker’s twine perfectly.

I threw some washi tapes in that middle bit since it’s a bit too big for spools. It’s sort of a little packaging station now.

Really? February?! Wow

I keep thinking this each month lately but honestly, time just seems to be flying by!

So welcome February 2012 and I just wanted to take a moment to point out the lovely sponsors I have over there to the right. Obsessive Compulsive Me, The Perfect Pear, Life in a Lens, This Time Around and Bartering Blogger.

Don’t forget the giveaway is still on until the end of the week!

Organization help

A while back Keyka Lou posted about her little red cart, which is ridiculously fabulous. It’s from ULine and is a bit pricey but looks totally durable and the colour is pretty rockin.

The other day I discovered you can get the IKEA catalogue for your iPad and so I was all over that. While flipping through it I saw this little gem and thought of the little red cart right away.

If I had my own room for crafting I think I’d be all over this, but as it is I’m sort of squished for space. But for only $30 it’s not a bad deal. If you planned on using it for heavy duty stuff I’d recommend ULine, IKEA is nice and all but often it can’t take a beating well.

Checking your Etsy activity feed? Danger! Danger!

I swear every time I look over to the left hand corner of my Etsy page and see that number and decide to click on the activity feed I end up swooning, favouriting, loving or buying some item. Today I clicked on it and found this fun shop. It was Janee’s fault (it often is, I swear she lives to fave items!). The shop is called Octopurse, I mean how great is that!?

Not only are the fabrics and purse frames great but she seems to be a wonder at fabric placement. I sew with scraps or pieces from swaps a lot so I’m usually trying to make the most of the piece. Making magnets I’m saving the smallest pieces possible. The purses are super cute and the placement of the design is just fantastic. Click the images to be whisked away to the listings.

This one just kills me it’s so awesome.

And the other side.

I can make really cute coin purses too. Just sayin’
