Spoiler alert reminder!

Remember my swapping friends to make sure your package is mailed out by today!

Here’s a peek of something I sent out.  Don’t worry I have 2 partners so it’s still a mystery where this one is headed!  I’m sneaky like that.  Please share what you get/make.  I’ll post some scrap busting ideas in the next little bit to give you some ideas of what to make with all your new fun fabric bits.

Yes, yes, yes another vintage bag.

I’ve had my eye on this bag for a while and I finally just caved and bought it.  I’m sooo glad I did.  I thought it was going to be the same as a red one but it’s waaay better.  It’s larger and has 2 outside pockets!  The colour is awesome too.  Did I mention it came with the keys!?!  Super cool.

Can’t wait to get using it once the weather warms up and I can be more fashionable than my puffy white marshmallow winter coat!

Shipping tip.

Sometimes I’m a bad Etsy shop owner. Mostly due to that job I work during the week and those 2 amazing things I made that live in my house with me. I like to feel like there’s some progress being made and so sometimes when I don’t have enough time to completely sew a cup cozy I’ll address envelopes or write thank you tags, or something smaller that I can accomplish and feel good about.

Here’s a tip for how I keep organized with a bunch of addressed envelopes lying around. After I address the envelope I just jot on the back a little something that will tell me the cozy that needs to go in it.

It’s not rocket science, and I’ve seen some of my personal purchases arrive like this but it helps save some time.

Cute handmade buttons

I bought these the other day.  They’re really cute.  The shop is called From the Red Kitchen and the buttons are lovely.

She’s also got some other fun goodies, including bias tape that I’m working really hard to not buy.  I’ll add learn to make bias tape to my list.

More Contact paper fun.

I grabbed a few of these small clip boards at Value Village a while back figuring I’d find some way to jazz them up some day.

I did.

Vintage haul.

My neighbour is selling her house. It’s sad. We like her. Plus she has a pool and she lets me and the kids use it all summer during the day while she’s at work.

She was doing some big purging a while back and invited me over to go through some fabric and crafty supplies to see what I wanted. I just tossed things into a bag and didn’t really look at it for a while. Last week I dumped it all out on the kitchen table and sorted through it.

There’s still the big pile of fabric that I have to go through. I’m pretty sure (barring needing something for a gift) that I’m on a fabric buying ban. I’ve got way to much lying around and I need to actually CUT and USE it. Both options make me gasp. Yeah, I know, all this says the girl organizing fabric scrap swaps . . .

Finally catching up on some projects.

Waaaay back I got these awesome frames from Amy in a swap and I finally got around to doing what I wanted with them.

She sent me cute little sewing stamps and some nice frames. I cut out some scrapbooking paper and stamped some of the images.

Vintage find and redo.

After about a year of communicating I finally met up with fellow crafty chick Cristina of Craftee on Friday night. We went for some yummy food and wandered around to some creative stores. She spotted this little teeny tiny ironing board at the thrift store and I thought it would be perfect for when I use my little teeny tiny mini iron to put my labels on. It was covered in a icky fabric so I decided to recover it.

It was just a piece of wood with batting and fabric stapled on it so I went with that design and put my own batting and material on it.

I chose a fun Japanese canvasy type fabric since it’s a little thicker than just a quilting cotton.

Now ironing on my labels won’t seem so work like with these cute little bunnies looking up at me!

Scrap Swap Buddies!

Well I was going to take a cute video and have my kids run into the room each with a name in hand and match us all up in a fun and silly way.  But Nate’s been sick all day and went to bed at about 6:30 looking very exhausted and hubby put Wesley to bed about a half hour ago.  Ooops.

Soooooo using the very high tech system I used last time I have written our names on tiny slips of paper and pulled them out in pairs at random to match us up!

Kristy S & bonitarose

SewSare & Virginia

Sara & Barb

Victoria Paige & Tara

Tara & Ali

Annabel & Leela

Cassidy & Anita

Lorna & Jennifer

Lauren & Earl-Leigh

There was a name left over so I’m very sad to say I think I’ll play twice.

So go ahead and chat with each other, maybe give a few details that might help make a package for you, if you have a son/daughter, certain project on the go or anything else.  Make sure there’s 10 ounces of fabric and anything else you want to toss in is just bonus.  Have fun and make sure to post your goodies in the flickr pool I want to see what everyone gets!

Interwebs dominoes

Sooooo I’ve been hanging out late at night on Twitter while I work away and Thursday is *always* there.  She mentioned The Vintage Cabin, so of course off I went to Etsy to see the shop.  Then I bought something. . . s.

In my poking around I ended up at the Vintage Cabin Blog (which is hillarious and local so I love it).  In one of her posts she mentioned a shop in Toronto, SMASH that seems super awesome, but has wacky hours *sigh*

She mentioned her love of industrial inspired stuff and said Three Potato Four was a favourite, so then there I was on that site.

Vintage Cabin was also featured in N.E.E.T magazine, which is awesome and full of all sorts of cool stuff.  I can’t even link all the neat things I found in there, just go check it out for yourself and you too will be playing Interwebs Dominoes.  Yeah, I’m making up a new term.
